Discover New York!

Breathe deeply…

27 June 2018 — As of today, Central Park is permanently closed to cars. NYC Mayor De Blasio had this to say: “Our parks are for people, not cars. For more than a century, cars have turned parts of the world’s most iconic park into a highway. Today we take it back.” The last automobile drove out of Central Park at 7 p.m. this evening to much fanfare.

It is expected that pedestrians and people-powered wheels — strollers, bicycles, skates, skateboards, hoverboards — will enjoy greater safety on park roads, as will horse-drawn carriages. The four transverse roads that connect east to west at 65th, 79th, 86th, and 97th Streets will remain open to vehicular traffic. Central Park, Manhattan’s largest, is open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.

SeaGlass Carousel…

27 June 2018 — If you squint, it’s easy to imagine yourself an iridescent angelfish swimming with your friends through a coral reef in the Caribbean Sea. The SeaGlass Carousel in Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan Island, is an enchanting flight of fancy, especially at night. Always check their website for opening times.

Enhance your downtown visit with a walk north along the Hudson River for unparalleled views of New York Harbor, North Cove Marina, Battery Park City, with its beautiful shops and restaurants, and the New Jersey skyline on the far shore. Le District, in Battery Park City at 225 Liberty Street, is a fun place to grab a bite and drop a few Euros.
